Visit in this half-day experience one of the most
symbolic points for mountain biking in the province of Castellón, as
the Desert de les Palmes and the additional ascent to the Bartolo.
You can rent a bike at In Bike, in Borriol.
You will leave towards Benicàssim on asphalt, climbing almost 9
kilometers to crown the Desert de les Palmes.
You will find signage at each kilometer that will let you know what
slopes you will face.
You will take a wide dirt track that passes through the Centre d’Espiritualitat
Santa Teresa, until you reconnect with the asphalt.

You will ride the last kilometers of ascent on the other side,
turning off to the right to climb up to the Bartolo. Ramps of
13% await you in 2 very demanding kilometers that
will provide you with one of the best views in the whole province. Enjoy the
panoramic almost 360o that you will have earned with your effort.
The rest of the route is practically all downhill, towards Borriol, in this
case by dirt tracks.

Dare to discover the Sierra de los Albares by mountain bike.
You can rent a bicycle at Tesoros del Palancia, in Bejís.
We will leave towards Teresa passing by the Mirador de las Ventas, and towards Viver
and Jérica, where we will take the Camino de Benaval, which
will lead us directly to the heart of the Sierra de los Albares.
Huge dirt tracks and the climb from Randurias to Benaval, with 4.25
kilometers at 4.6%, mark one of the most intense points of this route.
The most technical part will be practically finished, since
we will descend to connect with the Ojos Negros Greenway, the most extensive in Spain,

You will arrive in Jérica, recommended point in this experience for
to enjoy the local gastronomy, or its history and culture, with its castle or
its viewpoints.

The return is comfortable, although almost always with positive slope,
passing this time through Torás.
Return your bike in Tesoros del Palancia, a perfect name also
to illustrate this experience.

You will leave on the Senda de les Pedreres, a wide dirt track. The first
part of the route is demanding, with some ramps that reach 10%, although
does not require excessive technique, except in some specific sections.
A segregated lane will allow you to reach Sant Joan de Moró and take the
trails that pass by the Ermita de Sant Miquel and Ermita de San Vicente.
One of the most demanding sections of the route with 4 kilometers at 6% of
average slope.
We will return by dirt tracks that require some technique, by the
slope of the descent, but we will continue in this case to Castellón de
la Plana, by the segregated lane.

A very gentle slope and a segregated road will help you again to
return to Borriol, where you can visit the Greenwich Meridian Monument
, before leaving your bikes again at In
Bike.

You will cross Castellón de la Plana by its bike lane, to go to the Desert

Before starting the ascent, we will make a stop at the Interpretation Center

de Fadrell, or the Ermita de la Magdalena, apart from the
interpretation center itself.
The march continues with one of the mythical ascents of the province, the
ascent to the Desert de les Palmes, where you will find signage of what

Descending towards Benicàssim, we will head towards Oropesa del Mar by
secondary roads without traffic, and that constitute a constant viewpoint.

The return to Castellón de la Plana is much flatter, taking the Vía
Verde del Mar.
You will pass by the Torre de la Corda or the Torre Colomera.
Between Benicàssim and Castellón you will find segregated roads that
will allow you to reach your destination, EmeBikes.

The route starts at the Ecokm Bikes where you will pick up your bikes, touring bikes, children’s bikes or mountain bikes.

Leaving the store along the Paseo Marítimo de la Petxina, you will find immediately on the right the access to the Vía Verde Oropesa-Benicássim. This is an easy path for you to enjoy with the little ones, and it is practically a constant viewpoint.

You will find views of the Club Nautico de Oropesa del Mar, you will pass through its tunnels, or you can visit the Torre de la Gorda, with spectacular views of the Mediterranean.

You will enter, between gorges, beaches and coves, in the urbanizations of Benicássim, passing through the Torre Colomera. An area of small tunnels will take you to the Mirador els Canons, overlooking the beaches of Benicássim.

You can continue along the segregated bike path that will allow you to have views of the Sierra del Desert de les Palmes or approach the Voramar Beach.

Back to Oropesa del Mar, and only if you want to add some positive elevation gain to the route, you can take a detour on the Vía Pista to pass by the Mirador de Oropesa and return to the Vía Verde del Mar.

The Via Augusta is one of the great arteries of Roman Hispania: a historic corridor that linked the Pyrenees with Cadiz and that articulated during

centuries trade, mobility and daily life on the Mediterranean coast. More than just a roadway, it was an axis of civilization.

In the province of Castellón, the Via Augusta takes on a particularly authentic character. In the Plana de l’Arc region, you will enjoy this ancient route that runs through orange, almond and olive groves, connecting villages that preserve a deep Roman legacy.

The name of the region comes precisely from a great Roman arch, testimony of that past, which reminds us that this territory was a key point in the imperial route.

Cycling today in this area is to travel through a landscape where history is not locked up in museums, but ready to be discovered by bicycle.

We will start from Vilafamés, where you can rent your bike, electric or muscular, at BiciRural. In the proposed route you will find the iron arches, created to theme this route, as well as chairs or giant bicycles.

In addition, important vestiges of the Via Augusta as the Roman Arch or the Ildum Mansio Romana. Between Vilafamés, Benlloc and Vilanova d’Alcolea, you will pedal along rural roads that faithfully follow the ancient Roman road.

Although it is a route with very little elevation gain, the round trip adds up to almost 100 kilometers.

Gastronomy combined with cycling and history, an experience that is always worth living.

In the afternoon, we will return directly to Vilafamés along the Via Augusta, this time without taking a detour to Cabanes or Vall d’Alba, adding 35 kilometers and 330 meters of positive elevation gain.

The Sierra de Irta is a protected natural park located in the province of Castellón, between Peñíscola and Alcossebre. It is characterized by its mountainous relief, with more than 7,500 hectares that combine Mediterranean forests, scrubland and a rich biodiversity, being a refuge for native species.

It also houses historical remains such as watchtowers, hermitages and a castle, making it an ideal place for cycling tourism.

In this experience, our destination will be precisely a castle, Xivert.

Renting a mountain bike at the Camping Ribamarin Alcossebre, we will leave the town by the Camí de l’Estopet, a secondary asphalted road with very little traffic, to get into the Sierra de Irta.

We will pass to the dirt track that takes us almost to the Coll de la Palma but we will turn before to the castle path.

Xivert Castle is a fortress of Arab origin that was later expanded by the Order of the Temple. From the path at the foot of its ruins you can enjoy spectacular views of the coast and the mountainous interior.

We will then descend by the same paved road to Alcossebre, adding a little more than 38 kilometers and 570 meters of positive difference in altitude.

At the exit of this municipality, you will find a fully marked trail for walkers and cyclists. It is a very flat, compact dirt track without any technical difficulty or slope, perfect for the whole family.

Declared ZEPA (Special Protection Area for Birds), LIC (Site of Community Importance) and ZEC (Special Conservation Area), you will enter a natural area where you will pass by bird observatories and reach the Pla de la Torre beach.

Remember that you are in a protected natural area and that you must respect the environment and not leave any type of waste on your route.

The return to Castellón de la Plana has a slight positive slope but very little, especially easy to save if you have decided to rent an electric bike.

You will leave Castellón by the segregated lane that will take you past the Autovía de la Plana.

You will continue along the secondary road that crosses the urbanizations of Villalón, Rambla del Pinar or Pedrissetes.

You will go around the Sichar Reservoir, stopping at its recreational area and visiting its river beach. Depending on the time of the year, it is always good to refresh yourself a little.

Onda is equipped with bicycle parking, charging area for electric bicycles so you do not have to worry about running out of battery. So you can leave your bike quietly and enjoy the city, its historical heritage and gastronomy.

Again pedaling, you will continue around the Sichar reservoir to reach the reservoir of the Maria Cristina reservoir.

There are several secondary roads and trails to explore this tourist attraction. On your way to Castellón de la Plana, we recommend you to pass by Mercader street, with a great view of the reservoir.

The return to Castellón, already with a slight negative slope, can be done by the bike lane completely separated from cars.

Discover the spectacular Palancia River in an affordable route for all types of users, especially if done by electric bicycle.

The route starts at the Alto Palancia Mountain Bike Center where you will take your bikes, touring, children’s or mountain bikes. You will not find too much slope, but you will find two or three ramps for which we recommend electric bike, especially if you do not have much experience on a bike and / or if you want to visit the castle. Remember to ask for a lock for the stop in Segorbe.

We will leave Navajas along the Vía Verde de Ojos Negros, crossing Altura, and arriving at Segorbe.

In this municipality, we have bike racks, stations where you can charge your bike and adjust it.

In the capital of Alto Palancia you can enjoy different historical, cultural and gastronomic experiences. You can take a look at the different options at Castellón Ruta del Sabor.

Cycle along the city walls, through the Castillo de la Estrella or through its medieval aqueduct.

Take a break with a visit to the Oil Museum that culminates with an interesting tasting, and then enjoy the gastronomy of the Alto Palancia in one of the restaurants of Segorbe with gastronomic experiences full of trompe l’oeil and traditional proposals that will surprise you.

It’s time to reduce the food and start pedaling again, towards Soneja, through the Vía Verde de Ojos Negros.

We leave between irrigation ditches, passing the Molino de la Luz, towards Villatorcas and, always following the dirt roads parallel to the river, to Geldo to visit the Palace of the Dukes of Medinaceli.

We will enter Segorbe again by the old road, to return to the banks of the Palancia, where we will find the Fuente de los 50 Caños, and cross the river through a small pass where photography is a must.

We will return to Navajas along the banks of the Palancia River, until we reach the well-known area of Salto de la Novia.

On the way back to the BTT Center, we will also find the Mirador Paraíso – Cascada del Tío Juan.

If you have strength and/or battery, you can visit the fountains of La Bañola or Rafael.

In this route, you will go a little more than 40 kilometers and about 400 meters of positive difference in altitude with a visual and historical spectacle along our route.

You can also opt for a more familiar and affordable alternative, going only as far as Segorbe and returning along the banks of the Palancia River.
