P1. Face to face with the Giant

This route takes us to the slopes of “El Gigante”, the Peñagolosa mountain, which dominates the peaks of Castellón. We start from Vistabella del Maestrat, crossing “el Pla” until we reach the Hermitage of Sant Joan de Penyagolosa, and we ascend by the path that connects with the “Pla de la Creu”. From there, we descend towards Chodos by the old path of the Pilgrims of Les Useres, a path full of history and charm. After enjoying the views of Chodos, we face a demanding climb that takes us to the Mas de Montoliu, where the stone wall that protects the province awaits us. The last ascent takes us to the top of the Bañadera, and then we return through the Pla de la Creu to the Mas de Coll, surrounded by pine forests that give us a break after the effort.
